How to Clip your rabbits toenails

This is something every rabbit owner needs to learn how to do.

A rabbit has toenails, just like humans have fingernails. They grow continuously, and must be trimmed every 2 to 3 months. The rate will vary from rabbit to rabbit.

If the toenails are allowed to grow to long, they can become very uncomfortable for the rabbit. Over grown toenails increase the risk of developing feet sores, or painfully breaking or pulling out a toenail

It is very important that you keep your show rabbits toenails trimmed regularly, since a rabbit with a pulled out toenail will no longer be showable.

Keeping your pet rabbits toenails short is also important, because this will reduce the chance of you getting scratch, and help prevent the rabbit from scratching up furniture in your house.
